    Hello !

Jota Quest is a very famous Brazilian FUNK ROCK band. They are from SONY MUSIC and they sold over 5.000.000 copies in Brazil and South America. Some cool clips with cool bass licks !

    Happy 2013 for all !

The first song opens up with the horn section from a Bar-Kay's song that i used to cover in the 90s called Soul Finger.

As a matter of fact I think it's a sample
    Lifted right off the record!

Isn't that the same guy that was on TB a couple weeks back bragging about owning "the most expensive bass ever made?"

The bass lines are surely funky but the music would be more aptly described as disco.

Amazing bass playing, very poor songwriting.

That's a bit of a harsh criticism about their songwriting, but your entitled to your opinion. However, they have been around for almost twenty years and have sold millions of records so they must be doing something right!

So have Britney Spears and Madonna. Selling records is a poor measure of quality.

I've had a Bass hiatus in my life, and during it, I was singing in a band with PJ (when he was just Paulo). Amazing musician. We did some fun stuff by then, but JotaQuest started to get from a bar band to a big mainstream thing, and he left us. if the songwriting is poor (I tend to agree), I'm sure it's not his fault. We're not friends anymore, haven't seen him in the last 10 years, but he still can play the ***t out of his MM.

I don't agree with this logic...you may not like commercial pop music but if the songwriting is truly bad it simply won't sell.

You would be better served to keep this opinion to yourself, it only makes you seem bitter. If you want to continue this discussion, you should start your own thread.
