After years of trying every brand of amplification under the sun, I am finally satisfied with this classic rig. A 1985 GK 800rb, an Ampeg 810e, and a Sansamp Bass Driver. Tonal bliss! ImageUploadedByTalkBass1385229972.359194.jpg

That is a very fine choice.
Beware of the GAS, sometimes it still lays in waiting.

Ha! I use an 810e and a 400RB! You really don't need the sansamp but if you must!

Just want to add that this particular pairing sounds fantastic to my ears! Something about GK amps and sealed cabs!

I just use it to add some drive/grind.

This is the first time I've been completely content on the amplification side of things. Now I can focus on GASing for more basses! Prehaps a fiver or a fretless. :bassist::bassist::bassist:

You're not alone. I've been using a GK MB500 together with one or two SVT210AV cabs and have never been happier with my tone.

I played a GK800rb through a fridge at a rehearsal space last month and I couldn't stop grinning. So good.

Interesting, I've been really wondering what some of my old fav amps would sound like through some of new Bergie cabs:

NV115 or CN212 with either SWR SM400 or the 800RB?

I'm really thinking the 800RB would rock either of these.

Now you got me thinking I want a GK 800RB!!!

With a Bag End 1x15 stack?

Thanks for the Sunday morning GAS ;)

I have to agree with being gas free. I have a few amps, a few cabs and a few basses. Happy with them all. Maybe someday I will get a fretless. But I am officially gas free!!!!!!

I'm quite certain the 800rb would sound amazing atop any quality cab. Before the Ampeg, I had it powering a single SWR Big Ben 1x18. It sounded great, just not quite what I was looking for.
