I'm putting my wonderful Nordstrand NJ5 up for sale, as I just haven't been playing it lately, and it's too nice a bass for that. This NJ5 was the last one built by Carey before he switched into Nordy mode. It was my main player for several years, but I'm playing different music now.

This is a beautiful looking, feeling, and sounding instrument. One-piece alder body with a really nice grain, cocobolo fingerboard, knobs, and ramp. It plays better than anything else I own, and had an incredible resonance. I love the way this bass feels. The body feels almost like bare wood to the touch. And you can really feel the notes vibrating against your body when you play it, very nice. The tone is very fat and rich but focused, I think of it as "chocolatey".

    34.5 scale
    24 frets
    Incredible flamey Cocobolo fingerboard
3 piece maple neck, soft c shape
    12-20 fingerboard radius
    small vintage style frets
    Solid Alder body
    Nordstrand Big Singles pickups
    Nordstrand 9v 3 band EQ w/ active /passive / Mid: +/-12 dB@1K (mid freq selector toggles between 1kHz and 400Hz)
    Passive tone
    Satin finish
    8.6 lbs
    19mm spacing at bridge
    1.81 at nut
    Hipshot brass bridge
    Hipshot Ultralight tuners
    Dunlop internal straplocks
    custom matching cocobolo control knobs
easy removable matching cocobolo playing ramp

Here's the thread I bought it from: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/nordstrand-nj5-rare-822123/

It's in great condition, the only flaw I have found is a weird spot or dent in the finish - slightly darkened and a bit more matte than the rest of the body. It's a bit smaller than a dime to the left of the bridge as you look at the front of the bridge. I've included a picture below.

Asking $2100 shipped in the ConUSA. Paypal is good.

Trades are possible, but I'm only interested in 5-strings, thanks.

    And replied.

I do have an additional Roscoe SKB3005 I might consider as a trade offer, but I gotta think about that one some more.

Got an interesting PM this morning smeet, based on a recommendation from you. VERY VERY interested in working something along the lines that he mentioned.

    Will contact you soon.

Every now and then, a bass strikes me as a work of art. This is one of them.
