regrettably up for sale is my beloved Nordy VJ5 classic. This is a full 70's setup - basically as close as you can get to a 70's Jazz but with a B string. Here's the specs:

    34" scale
    Ash trans Rootbeer body
1 piece Maple neck/fingerboard with skunk stripe & gloss finish
    Pearl blocks and white binding
    jumbo frets
Nordstrand Nj5 (long) 70's wind single coil pickups
    Sadowsky pre-amp with VTC
    Hipshot quick release bridge
    Hipshot tuners
    a hair over 9 lbs

to sum it up....this bass hauls ass! 70's funk/ slap machine and when you favour a pickup....finger tones are just silly. Playability is second to none, Carey is a genius.
The bass is in excellent condition and has no major dings. I just realized that I forgot to remove the film on the pickguard so I'll leave it on there and it will look brand new for it's new owner! (you can see where I peeled a bit back on the top corner)

This model has a few upcharge items and is well over $4000 new. I am asking $2600 usd
    No trades thanks

Is the preamp original to this bass? Any modifications?

I've personally played this bass and it's awesome!! Tons of mojo, and plays great. Out of the 6-7 nordys I've played this one always stuck out as top notch, and Carey makes killer axes.

no, I had this pre from another bass and I've always liked the low end of the Sadowsky pre-amps so i put it in there to check it out and it ended up staying. i really like it in this bass

No the pre is not original (explained in the previous post) and there is no Mods other than that

I don't think i have it anymore..... I'll look but I don't think so. I could pull the Sadowsky and get Carey to send one to buyer if it's a dealbreaker. The sadowsky sounds pretty darn good in there though....

Root beer float bump! The 34 inch scale VJ5 with a one piece maple neck has received some love here on TB.

lots of interest and thanks for all the interesting offers but again I have to remind folks that i am not taking trades. I am not selling this bass to get rid of it , i am selling purely out of necessity. I never thought i would sell this as it's a total keeper but it's one of the nicest bass' I own and therefore the most appealing (and worth the most $$). hope that makes sense
