    Hey all,

First off, super nooby when it comes to electronics so bare with me!

I recently bought a new bass that is a Fretless MiM Jazz Fender neck on a Squier Standard Precision Special body. I like the feel a lot and would love to upgrade it to a sound with more clarity and versatility. The original Squier pickups sound okay, but there just isn't a lot that's impressive about them.

I began doing some research and found out that DiMarzio made a set of Area P/J pickups that are very affordable, and I love the sound out of my buddy's MiJ P bass with an Area P. Is the duo of Area P + Area J well regarded, and would it satisfy my desire to have a warm, not-too-modern tone?

Also would love to hear more options if you guys have ever made the huge jump from Squier P/J to custom!
