    Hi there,

I'm really interested in buying the new orange bass terror head (the 500 watt lunchbox head). I've heard its loud, got a great warm tubey tone and its light weight. My only concern is the cleanliness of this amp. I've read in many posts that its the holy grail of dirtiness. Now lets get something straight, I do love a dirty bass tone with a little growl to it, but everyone need a little versatility. I'm looking for a clean usable sound, with that 'subharmonic' low end bass tone that doesn't distort that much and still retains its Loudness. So I'm afraid this amp lacks in low end and a clean tone.

Maybe I should be looking at the ashdown ABM 500 or an ampeg svt??

    or maybe not??

    THANKS!!

Or an Ampeg SVT7PRO it'll do dirty & clean. Try the search function at top of page.
I'd think the BT500'd do both, but then the BT1000 would give ya more clean headroom I s'pose.

Aguilar TH500. The drive knob on it is AWESOME! The head is also capable of very clean but loud tones. I highly recommend it.

If it's really clean u want it doesn't do that but does offer some clean headroom. The 1000 watt version would offer more but the bottom line is it's a rock n roll amp. period.

Traynor DB800. It has a separate switchable drive channel. It is also a hybrid, like the Orange is. I think it sounds great - check it out.

Someone should do a shootout of all the Class D, tubey amps.
