  1. Here are some pictures I took at the Saturday event for BPL 2013. Some are clear some are blurry. The joys of digital cameras :D

    My pass:

Evan Brewer and Nick Schendzielos in the Warwick room

    Mike Manring

    Ed Friedland

    Some Marleaux basses

    The Yin Yang Fodera

Some love for Bass Strings Online because they are awesome

    Now this is interesting:
This is a prototype Spector that has Aguilar pickups and an OBP-2 Preamp. I tried a different one and it sounded GREAT. I hope they go with this :hyper:

    Dave Ellefson of MegaDeth

    Frank Bello of Anthrax

    Billy Sheehan

    Warwick SS1 and a SS2

Warick Thumb bolt on and SC

Nick from Cephalic Carnage is always happy to meet a fan.

Thank you for sharing these with us, socialleper.
  3. Some notes on Manring:
I've never seen a play in such complete control of his bass. This guy uses every technique you can think of, while fiddling around with hipshots and a special bridge that also detunes, all with complete ease. He really can fill in musical space like no one else.

He told some stories about Jaco; I guess he learned from Jaco for a time. He said that Jaco could be very hard to be around at times, but was always kind to him. He said that it could be hard because Jaco was "very sick" when he knew him. He also said if one person said something about an aspect of Jaco, and then someone said the complete opposite, both were probably right.

While describing his love for the bass, Mike was talking about the ruggedness of the instrument and how its basic design is very sturdy. Then he quipped "If you ever see a band that decides to destroy their instruments at then end of their performance, it seems like the bass player has to try harder" as a testament to the durability of the bass.

    He's a really inspiring guy.

Great pix. Wish I could have made it. Maybe they'll do this event in New York one year as a change of pace!?

Yeah, why don't they do it on the East coast for a change? Hello? NYC, Boston baby!

    Keepin' it green.
I went to the first 3 in NYC. Definitely worth a visit. Perhaps they'll bring it back there one day.

    Nice pics!

The Fodera booth and Marleaux kind of run into each other in the front room, but you're right.
  11. Oh crap, I totally didn't notice that. They were in the same little cubby, I guess I got confused.

    Awesome pics! Good stuff.
  15. I don't know why I didn't post this one earlier. This is the EBS booth, which was understandably busy. How often would you get to try out all those pedals like that?
