Are pink amps for girls? I am thinking about getting a Carvin MB15 and they have bubblegum pink as a covering option.

Good question. I don't think I could rock a pink amp as an extremely heterosexual male. However, I am sorely tempted to find one of these on Ebay for use onstage:

    Daisy Rock!

Jimmy, if one of those Daisy Rock HEART basses, particularly in red, ever pops up on my local craigs you better believe I'd be all over it and rock the heck out of it.

And I'd rock a Pink Paisley Precision in a New York minute if I could find one cheap enough.

Heck, my Midnight Blue Precision usually looks dark purple, I love the color and other folks seem to as well.

OP, I think pink is for girls, guys, and anyone in between that wants a little color on an otherwise typically bland and "invisible" piece of gear.

A good bet most folks opinions about a guy rocking a pink amp would be along the lines of "A Boy Named Sue". :bassist:

    Why not?
A nice Shell or coral pink bass would go nicely too

What would the colour of an amp/bass have to do with the gender of its player?

I once had to drink a barium shake for a medical test when I was like 8. To try and make it less disgusting they flavored it with some kind of strawberry flavoring and pink dye to make it look like strawberry milk.

It had the opposite effect. Since then I cannot stomach artificial strawberry flavor in milk or ice cream, and the color pink generally makes me want to puke (unless it is natural). If you gave me a pink bass for free I'd immediately sand it down and repaint it....

    ...Any. Other. Color.

EDIT: I reserve the right to change my mind or make exceptions. I have always thought this 80s-looking Dean bass was kind of cool for the shock value alone (although I prefer the neon green).

I also lust after a purple Ritter bass with pink neon strings...

Being such a rare color, nobody would steal it.

Guarantee that if a Butterfly ever comes up I'd be bidding on it.

Truth is they don't play too bad. With upgraded electronics they'd be eminently gigable.

And why not? Here's a little number I threw together for my daughter.... ya not pink, and it's had its share of rough handling, but she likes it, and if using the aesthetics makes her want to practice, then hey, who am I to get in the way? (every time one of her friends comes over they're drawn to it... one actually got interested in playing guitar after a sleepover) Two Eminence Beta 8's in there.. stereo.

What would be the problem, even if they were? Does looking "girly" demean you in some fashion?

A pink Carvin. I’m guessing resale value doesn’t mean much to ya.

What? What is this? I clearly need it, as I have a purple bass.
