I would like to compile a list of quality Precision bases with small, skinny necks. I am aware of 2 with jazz necks. The Fender Blacktop Jazz, and the Lakland 44-64 Custom Series.

Anyone game? Take your best shot!

    Mark Hoppus signature.

Or you could always put a jazz neck on a precision body.

The MIM Fender Deluxe P-Bass Special comes with a jazz neck.

G&L SB-1 and 2 come standard with the #8 neck. The L100 can be ordered with the # 8 neck as well.

    Hoppus has a J body,but it's a P neck.

I put a Carvin neck (the same as the SB 4000 ) on my Hoppus, and I love it!

I highly recommend Carvin for an aftermarket neck. It feels great, and the price was nicer than beat up Fender parts off E-bay.

Mid 80's Fender Jazz Bass Specials. Made in Japan.
    P-Bass Body, P/J pickups, Jazz-width neck.
Like Duff McKagan played with G'n'R and Velvet Revolver.

BTW, the Fender Duff McKagan Signature Model has a P-Bass neck. Not a J-bass neck...

Sorry to be picky, but the Blacktop Jazz is a Jazz body and neck. It just sports a pair of Precision pickups. Now, if your criteria includes Jazz bodies with Precision pickups, then the Fender Aerodyne has a very slim neck (vintage 7.25" radius instead of the more common 9.5" radius) and a Precision/Jazz configuration.

But what you're probably looking for is something like the discontinued Squier Standard P-Bass Special…a P-body with Jazz-spec neck and a P/J configuration.

EDIT: Would the short scale SX Ursa 1's and 3's also count?

    It's the J body. It's misleading.

That Carvin neck with a Tung oil finish is sublime. If I had a J bass I'd probably swap it out too.

No, it has to be a high quality offering. By the way, the Blacktop series does not qualify.

The Schecter Model-T has a J profile neck on a body modeled after the original slab-looking P. One heck of a nice bass, they are.

Okie-dokie. So to be clear, Jazz bodies are out even if they have Precision electronics? Sorry if the question seems pedantic, but there has been debate among some here to the tune of "How can you call it a 'P' when it has a 'J' pickup?". I'm in the, "If it's a Jazz body, it's a Jazz bass. If it's a Precision body, it's a Precision bass" camp. I don't yet know where you fall on this discussion so it's just easier to ask outright.

I have an American Special P and the neck is definitely thinner front to back than the American Standard/Deluxe (or most any Fender P I have played).
