Anyone aware of reliable information on the production numbers or years of the Fender reissue ('68) pink paisley and blue flower P basses? I know they were all Japan-made, and I've heard just for a few years in the early 2000s, but not sure about this.

I just acquired a matched set: both of these, pretty much dead mint. Super excited. I know, this thread is worthless without pictures. I'm pretty picky about my photos though, so waiting to shoot good ones in natural light, hopefully later today.

Anyway, any info would be appreciated!

From what I've been able to find so far, these RI's were introduced by Fender in 2003. Some info suggests they were only around for a year, some slightly more. Mostly been looking at dead links.

Nice, so, what year(s) was your pair made?

Always thought the background colors should have been reversed on these models, ever since they came out on the Tele basses in '68-69.
Yours are fine looking examples, And I like the body contours better than the slab Tele models.

My memory places them around 1988. My home town shop had a pair of Teles and one would assume the same production run.
