For those of you looking for help with your bow arm, I have recently become aware that Amazon is selling Rabbath's Art of the Bow DVD for an extraordinarily low price. If you were interested to see what Rabbath has to say on the subject but were put off by the high price tag, you can now find it for less than the cost of a CD. I don't know how long this may last… happy bassing!

Bought it, and I am studying it along with his methods and Fredrick Zimmermann's Contemporary Concept of Bowing.
I have made huge improvements in a short time. Not much that is price of two good beers can do this much for your bass playing..

Can the concepts in this DVD be applied to German bow?

Hans, you need to call Amazon and tell them you expect commission on all these sales you brought them.

For sure. One of the things he figured out was to use the weight of the arm just like German bow players have done for years. I learned his French grip years ago - the first finger is moved more forward on the stick and the concept works just like German.
I like to learn all techniques with both grips, myself.

Cool deal! The folks at Lemur shipped me a bookshelf copy and it's a great resource for bow work. BTW, Hans, just told a room full of my Bass Majors about your Youtube clips about Rabbath technique.

This DVD is paramount in the development of the important hand, the Right Hand. My only wish is that Francois would stress a little more the importance of the weight of the arm, the transfer of power from the feet, putting more weight into the first finger.

Want to make it work faster? Pick up your bass and play along with him. Watch his arm, not your own. It will change your posture quickly!!!
