I have this blown Hartke 15XL speaker sitting in my attic...got it with a Transporter cab although it's not the right speaker for it, I'd imagine.

I'm wondering about having it reconed by a reconer like Weber VST (with paper cone). Not trying to match any particular cab...but it does have a really big magnet that seems a shame to waste.

Anybody ever done this? It should cost much less than a Hartke recone.

You'd have to have a recond kit that will fit that speaker.

Personally, I'd drop a new Eminence 15 in there for about the same money as a recone. Check them out at www.partsexpress.com and be sure to e-mail them for actual price, which is usually about 60% of the advertised price.

That's my other option...to drop in an Eminence Delta LF speaker. It'd do well in the 3.75 cu. ft. box.

    Bump----

Has anyone ever had a Hartke Reconed to Paper?

I'm not a tone snob.. bought a kickback for a great price with a distorted speaker.

I"m guessing it would change the thiel ratings and porting.

Please chime in if you have experience --- thanks.
