I'm trying to make some CDs of relaxing music that is good to listen to when you're just wanting to sit in bed with some headphones and loosen up. So far I have:
where the streets have no name - U2
don't dream it's over- Crowded House
    mad world- Gary Jules
    clocks- Coldplay
on the 4th of july- James Taylor
    cliffs of dover- Eric Johnson
    letter from home- Pat Metheny

    I would love more ideas.

I'll add to your PMS soundtrack.

-Anything by Sade and Bill Withers.
    -Moonlight Sonata
    -Concerto de Aranjuez
-In a Silent Way - Miles Davis
-Any ambient techno would probably fit the bill
    -Jack Johnson is pretty mellow.
-I could relax to the Red Sparrow album, but I'm not sure if others could.

Failing that, Kenny G can ruffle my feathers all day long. Hello pentatonic sax.

For some reason, I immediately thought of "Help Me".

One tune that used to always relax me & actually get me feeling somewhat positive was Al Jarreau's "Morning". Nice bass work by Abe Laboriel, too.
    ;)

On the way to work today I was thinking about how happy and mellow Jack Johnson's music is when "Good People" was on the radio.

Jellyfish always makes me smile. It's not super-soothing, put you to sleep music...just "feel good" music that lifts your mood, and makes you smile.

Ben Strange sent me this piece not too long ago called 'moonchild's dream' It's incredible.

Also I listen to a lot of steve reich when I'm doing the headphones bed-vege thing.

Additionally I love all manner of downtempo/trip-hop type electronic music, in particular the latest I've heard that I really dug was 'peace orchestra'

On top of that, my friend's band www.unitedbysound.net make some really good chill out music. Check 'em out!

Not overly soothing: But Sly and The Family Stone's greatest hits always makes me happy. I always think: Meh, I don't really like this album. But when I do, I get like this: :) and sometimes this :hyper: so yeah... not overly mellow.

Any "smooth jazz" will do. Spyro Gyra, Yellowjackets, Joe Sample, etc. Basically weather channel background music. :)
