The tuning gears on my CIJ 57 P reissue don't slip, but they are very loose and annoying to deal with. This bass was bought directly from Japan back when Ishibashi could sell Fender Japan products to American customers.

Is replacement going to require drilling out those holes ? Or are there replacements readily available in the USA for CIJ tuners.

    Anyone else done this?

You can get direct replacements w/o drilling......Schaller or Hipshot have good ones.
