even so they are too hard to find.
Rockinbetter or Rebelrocker if you live in Austraila, made in China in the Tokai factory. think the newer 22 fret ones are made in the korea tokai factory.
do they hold up well, have you tried them?
I have a Rockinbetter and i do get that McCartney/Lemmy sound. has a really good tone and bags of sustain.
if your looking for a Squires sound you would need to fit flats to get near his sound.
im not looking for a lemmy, McCartney or squire tone im looking for an alex griffin tone who you've probs never heard of hes awesome.
Peavey T40 in series mode.
do they still make those
Jazz bass ... turn all the knobs to 10 and roll of the bridge pickup enough to get the single coil tone.
I build my own frankensteined parts basses and I put pickups in the Rick positions. Bridge pickup 4" to 5" from the bridge and the neck pickup in about the 24th fret position. Also basses with a maple body and a maple fretboard get closer to that tone. The 4 band Audere preamp can help, it has high and low mids. Boost high mids to get the Ricky clank.
I scan the midwest Craigslists every day and they pop up very fequently. Cost ranges from $150 -$500. Usually between $250-$350.
can mim jazz' get that tone
Where are these $150 T40s that you speak of?!
hmm i cant buy stuff online so ill look in my local classifieds and see if one ever pops up.
those t40's are sexy.
T-40 for sure. I played one last week and it was VERY close sounding to my Ric.
Bite the bullet time I,m afraid.
If you want that sound/tone there is only one answer.
I "probs" have actually.
Keep looking. Not very often that low but its happened before.
