Ring on Thumb while slapping

    I was watching this video of Scott Brown the bassist for Trooper a Canadian classic rock band. I noticed he is wearing a ring on his thumb while slapping.

    Anyone do this, I assume it is to get more attack?

    I also love the fact that he is playing a $200 Squire Jag. He usually plays Fender Jazzes which I believe are American.

    Perhaps Scott is here himself and could answer this for me.

    Gerald Reese started the company in 1994. I imagine he invented it before then, so yeah, 20 years is probably right on.
