I picked this bass up as part of a trade deal a short while ago from a fellow TB’er. I love Roscoes and I was interested to see how a Roscoe with the wider (19mm) spacing would be. I know a lot of players really dig the wider spacing, but unfortunately I have realized that the spacing is simply not for me.

As the previous owner stated in his listing, this should not be confused with the current Century Standard. This bass is essentially a Century Custom without a 3D carved top, but with the 3-piece maple/purpleheart/maple neck and a thick exotic wood top and headstock overlay.

The options on this bass make it very versatile tone-wise. It can get the usual Roscoe tones we know and love, but the series/parallel/single switching opens up a lot of other possibilities. I’m really not happy about parting with this bass. It looks and sounds great, but I know that the neck is not for me and there are a lot of folks out there that would absolutely love it.

    Here are the specs:
    Ash body
    Bubinga (waterfall) top
    Maple/purpleheart/maple neck with Ebony Fingerboard
    String spacing: 19mm
    Special hardware: black/chrome
Demeter preamp with Q bandwidth switch
    Original Bartolini pups
The bass has a single switch for parallel/single/series and is totally shielded because of the single coil mode (pickups cavities are not shielded from the shop)

I got a great deal on this bass and am happy to pass it to a good home for $1650 shipped & insured CONUS. PayPal works for me and offers more protection for the buyer, but I can make other arrangements if needed.

Although I would prefer an outright sale, I know folks are going to ask about trades. I would consider the following in a trade deal +/- cash as appropriate:

    Sadowsky
    EBMM Sterling
Roscoe with the standard string spacing
    Rickenbacker 4003 or 4001.

Any trades would need to be light, around 9 lbs or less.

That is nice. Great price too, won't last long. Is it 35" scale?

It sure is. I believe it was someone's custom build. I hate to part with it, but the 19mm spacing on a 35" scale just isn't working for me.

Dangit! always at the wrong time!

Yes, that is my former Roscoe and I think I want it back….

Let me know, I have a great "special" Sadowsky M5-24 (a Metro 8.5lbs!!!)I might be interested on working a trade for.
