Man, that's tough. Both had moments of comedy genius. Both had a tendency to do long, unfunny skits that stole your soul.
Both, along with SNL, reminded me of just how brilliant the Monty Python bunch were.
I'm not saying the Pythons never did anything wrong, but their failure/success ratio was amazing.
Both were great, but for my money the Kids In The Hall rocked it.
Kids In The Hall. They just did weird and hilarious stuff. The sausages and ascertain skits are probably my favs...
I loved both (but ya both could be very lame at times). Ultimately, I nave to give it to the kids for this
Loved "Kids in the Hall" but SCTV did have "Bob and Doug McKenzie"..
The Young Ones.
But of the two mentioned, SCTV.
I have no idea what you are talking about.
I grew up with Kids in the hall, so my vote is for them. I don't think I've ever seen SCTV.
I liked both.
SCTV...if you saw the episode when John Candy played Peter Pan in drag you would understand. Gives me a belly laugh everytime I recall it..."I'm flying"
The Kids sketch "The Bass Player". Love it.
On topic, I was at just the right age for SCTV when I discovered it(14ish?)Kids is great too(not voting *best/better*, just stating my pref)but SCTV gets the nod from 'steban
The Vacant Lot was a good one, too
Aw, yeah- EARLY John Candy, good stuff.
They had some great music on there, too- I remember an episode w/Dr John- he was in a skit or two, IIRC
Edit: Just re-read the OP; can't say I find that one is hugely funnier than the other, just that I relate more to Second City
This post blowed up....it blowed up real good....
Man, that's a toss up. Both very funny, creative shows. Exactly what's missing from television today IMHO.
This here- this is why we need a *like* button
I was late to either, not having been raised in english, i was introduced to SCTV around 1996, i watched a bunch of them back then. Kids in the hall, while i knew them by name for a while, it wasn't until about 3 years ago that i got to watch any, i find them funnier though like any of those shows, a lot of hit and miss. SCTV hasnt aged very well, again they had some good ones but...seen from today i find theyre a lot more miss than hit. So yeah i'd give it to Kids in the hall.
Kids in the Hall
