Should I buy a 2006 Ampeg 810AV?

The serial is DWCDS70122 which puts this 810AV in July 2006 via SLM, just before LOUD started building overseas. From what I've read from JimmyM this is probably made of plywood, but I wonder what drivers are used? Should I even bother with this thing?

Actually, 2006 was the year they started straightening out their problems. I have not heard a 2006 side by side with a new one, but I have used a 2006 810e in the last year, and it sounded better to me than the others. Not sure why, but it did seem to have high end that was lacking in the ones made in the previous few years.

Nice avatar, BTW ;) Those were fun times a year and a half ago!

Thanks! That's about what I thought. For the price I probably can't go wrong. If anything, it's an interesting cabinet.

I haven't really been on much since your great ban, hence the avatar! Just removed it so people don't think I'm some creepy impostor. :)

LOL! I'm sure you'll find an avatar equally as identifiable ;)
