    Hi TBers!

I have a Sansamp Acoustic DI for the last 10 years that I like very much.

But I have been GASing for some time now, to buy an Aguilar Tone Hammer preamp.

What do you guys think, has anyone compared it to the Sansamp? Will I benefit from the Aguilar? Or is it just exchanging six for half a dozen?

What about the Eden preamp pedal?

    Thanks!

Just go whole hog and get a Tone Hammer 500, you will be glad you did. You will get an amazing sounding preamp that just happens to come with a really loud 500 power amp attached to it. :bassist:

I wish I could, but I can't afford it right now... plus I would have to get a cabinet too!

Love mine. If you do a lot of DI work, its a great addition.

Well, I just went nuts and bought a Aguilar Tone Hammer and a Eden WTDI preamp! Now I got my three favorites! Only need a Fodera pedal now to complete the collection.

Reviews, recordings and comparisons will be made and posted on TB!

My Tonehammer is my favorite DI, and I've had quite a few notable ones.

I took delivery on my Tone Hammer pre/DI and TLC compressor today and spent about an hour with them just now through my Yamaha mixer and MDR-V6 phones. I don't have much to compare them to, but the adjectives "full, natural, clean and tasteful" come to mind. There's nothing gimmicky about them; they just seem very solid and straightforward. I'll need to spend more time exploring boost/cut combinations, but I found great tones right out of the box.

It's hard to be the TH. I had the para driver and found it to be a good for other things besides bass. I love the TH DI for everything bass related. I sold my TH500 and kept the pedal!

How much do the TH DI usually go for used?

You should start a thread in the Bass Guitar forum.

Go for it - it's a great preamp that I use for recording, straight to PA, or if I am in the mood, into the return channel of any power amp.
Very versatile with great sound .

Have both the Tone Hammer and the WDTI. Slight edge to the TH. Considering the JHS Colour Box when its available.
