Should I put new pickups in a fretless bass?

I'm about to convert my epiphone eb-3 into a fretless bass. I've never had a fretless before, and I always play my 5 string instead, so this is kind of a reason to keep it instead of selling it because I like my 5 string more.

It currently has the stock pickups (Side-winder humbucker and a NYT mini-humbucker), so I know changing the pickups will probably upgrade the sound, but are there any specific pickups I'd want for going fretless?

I play funk (Slap mainly), jazz and sometimes metal, so any suggestions would help. Cheers :bassist:
