I just got my tax return this week and went to my local pawn shop to see if they had any good deals. I'm going through their pedals and I see a DOD Meatbox for $29.95. I knew that some DOD pedals were highly sought after so I checked on my phone real quick and saw that most of those can go from $150-$300 on ebay. So I went ahead and bought the pedal. As they handed me the money, I said to the cashier, "now that you sold me that for $30 why don't you look it up on eBay and tell me how much you'll give me to buy it back." The cashier had a weird look on his face like I was pulling his chain but he looked it up and his jaw dropped. He had the manager come over and told him about it. His jaw dropped as well. They ended up offering me $125 to buy it back. The manager said it was priced low because he was under the impression that most DOD stuff was cheap.

That's my story. I figured if anybody could appreciate it it was you guys.

You are lucky. Most of the pawn shops in my area have a laptop sitting on the counter with EBay up and running. When ever I have looked at a bass or amp they pull it up on EBay and compare it to what they are selling for there.

You are *so lucky* to live near a pawn shop like that! The one's in this town are all over the internet like a hobo on a ham sandwich. No good deals at all as they usually list things locally for little more than the avg Ebay sale price, just to see if they can snag a sucker.

This was definitely a fluke. Usually they are fair priced and you won't find a steal like that. The manager normally does check out stuff on ebay, but he said this one he didn't because he was under the assumption that most DOD is junk.

Imagine the regret of the guy that pawned it for probably $15.

I have one. I bought it new. I don't think it's worth any more than $30. It's time to put it on ebay.
  11. Why did u decide 2 teach them a lesson? Now u have likely lost your cheap pawn shop to buy things u really want. More work but more self serving would have been 2 sell it on eBay yourself quietly....

Oh well... $95 in your pocket is cool :)

That was not kool at all.

Now you will never find any thing affordable that you like ever again if you go back in that pawn shop.

It was an instant 100$ profit with no extra time wasted, while also helping the store not take a loss. Win/Win for both sides.
