As usual, the band has called upon me to pull the fat from the fire,
to concoct a list of tunes that she-who-must-be-obeyed can sing.
(Current or otherwise, to get the able-bodied up and dancing)
Not sure why they go to the hired gun for this, but I digress.
They do a lot of Janis, Fleetwood, and Tedeschi.
singerbabe, drums, bass, gtr, sometimes a saxomophone

    So I call upon the see-all tell-all know-it-alls.
Pretty much narrows the field to bassists, right?

    Any suggestions?

Almost any Maroon Five goes over really well with the female patrons.... Also they are pitched so high most women can sing them easily. We did "Juicy" in my last band, with a sax player, and it rocked!

What is she-who-must-be-obeyed's vocal range? A lot will depend on what she can pull off... frankly, this ought to be her job, not yours.

Having said that, how would some Sheryl Crow fit? Soak up the Sun, All I Wanna Do?

    On the more current side;

    Lady Gaga
    Rhianna
    Katy Perry
    Adele (the more upbeat stuff)

We do songs from all these artists and I can tell you they get the ladies dancing!

This one ought to teach her to select her own...or not.

    Lots of great suggestions, guys.

    I really like Cold Blood.
In the same vein is Stone the Crows.

I'll agree that it's really the singer's job to pick her own material.
I pick mine for my band, plus take suggestions from the fellas,
as long as I can hang with the vox.

    Hi,

Feel free to check out the songlist on our website (www.kellyraeband.com) for the pop stuff that Kelly does. They always get everyone up on the floor. Songs like "I Want You Back" - Michael Jackson, "Call Me Maybe" - Carly Rae Jepsen, "Dancing Queen" - ABBA, "Tik Tok" - Ke$ha, "Tie It Up" - Kelly Clarkson, etc.

    Break a leg!

    Thank you for your indulgence,

    BassCliff

Definitely do "Timber" if you have somebody who can handle Pitbull's verses. Also look up dance remixes of "Royals". And lots of Rihanna. Just this week she tied Michael Jackson for total number of #1 hits, and went ahead of Madonna.

My favorite singerbabes' surprising new favorite, though, is "Jar Of Hearts" done like the Dash Berlin version. It's mostly the refrain of the Christina Perri song repeated over either chords or over a catchy synth lead which could easily be played on sax.

Probably not the best suggestion for dancability, but if she can pull off Janis, she should definitely do some Beth Hart.

This is what the TB community is all about.
My drummer didn't think anybody would step up.
    Really appreciate it, fellas.

She does do a couple Zep tunes already.

Thanks BC, I'll be raiding your setlist shortly.

Have a pretty good Beth Hart catalogue on hand
(Probably why they ask me to handle this stuff)

Hoping it doesn't become a moot point,
as there are some (prospective) personnel changes looming
that may lower my availability factor with this band.
