I just got an EMG BTC active tone control i want to install in one of my basses.....my Squier Telecaster Special (2 pups, mudbucker and Duncan designed J-style bridge) is the leading candidate..... However that bridge pup has serious single coil hum in it and i'm concerned the BTC might make it even worse..... Am i right? Would i be better off just replacing the bridge pup with something better?

I can't stand hum, so I would recommend getting a humbucking J pickup regardless of what else you decide to do.
