Hi. I use an Ampeg 115 combo, which is pretty much perfect for anything. But I need a smaller practice amp to play with my jazz workshop (to save my back!). I need about 30watts as it's a small room.
What's what with little amps? Can anyone suggest a good one?

Since you like the BA115, I'd suggest the BA110. 35w, single 10", sounds like Ampeg.

If you like the Ampeg sound, the little BA108 and BA110 combos sound really good. I actually like the smaller BA108 because you can turn it up for tone without shaking the walls. It gets surprisingly LOUD for a little thing, without breaking up. Sounds like a real bass amp. The BA110 can be a bit too much for practice purposes but I live in a condo.

BA108 is a good choice. Sounds great for a tiny amp.

I recommend the BA-110 because the 10 inch speaker has a little more capability than the 8 inch in the BA-108, and the external dimensions are only one inch greater in each direction. You get more volume from the 110, for very little extra weight. Look for an earlier example, with the kick-back cabinet design, and be ready to ignore the hiss. The next step up from the BA112, is a B100R. Skip the BA-115, and larger.

Good reviews for all these, the BA108 looks great!

I have one, it gets a lot of use. I don't think you can touch the quality or tone at that price point. Basically the whole line is good value for money, but the 108 has endeared itself to me over time I've had it. Real little trooper.

BA108 is great for sure, but the BA110 is a little more usable in a band context IMHO.

Thanks for the advice y'all, I've just ordered the 108. 2/3's the price of the 110 and has great reviews, pocket power!! I'll let you know how it sounds next week.

Just took delivery of the little BA108 Ampeg. What a little stonker! Fat and full bass tone, and a great jazz bass honk to it due to the small speaker. I can't believe how loud it is too.
    Well pleased.

Glad to hear you like it Nick! Should be the perfect complement to your BA115.

    +1. ^^^ This makes total sense - and I'm a G-K MB combo fanboy.

EDIT: I just read the whole thread - congratulations on your new Ampeg BA108.
