Wondering if I'm crazy to swap out my Euro5XL pups (EMG40TWX) and pre/pots 18v, etc etc for a hazlab 9v pre and a EMG 40P5 and EMG 40JV5.

My goal is to get as close to that '80's NS 4 string Spector tone in a 5 string Euro5XL

    Thoughts?

It should sound great, but I hope you already have the Haz pre...

If not, be prepared for an indefinite wait and a price of $600 or more.
Spector 9-volt Haz preamps have been backordered for over a year now.

Have the Haz pre.. I was just wondering about the Soapbar P/J setup in the 5 and if that will get me as close as possible to the traditional 4 string p/j setup in a NS2

Yep, the only real difference then will be the wings (solid maple in the NS-2 vs. maple/walnut/alder sandwich in the Euro5).

It'll sound killer, and very close to the classic NS-2 tone :bassist:
