Anyone suffer from severe Affinity series tuning issues?
    Any other build quality issues?

I had an used Affinity Jazz once (a 2007, I think) as a traveling/beater bass. The only issue I had with it were the crappy closed-box tuners. They were a bit weak and creaky when you ramped up the tension. Otherwise, it was fine. Sure, it wasn't the most powerful bass in my collection, but I only traded it in to go towards another purchase, not out of any dislike for it.

The newer 2013 Affinities now have the standardized Squier open-gear tuners. Good on them for making a notable improvement of their value line.

Never had severe tuning issues on the Affinity V that I used to have. In fact, after initial tightening of the bolts, there was no issues at all.
