    For the last ten or fifteen years, I've been asking, "When did the Star Spangled Banner become a ballad?"

    My high school band daughter showed me this a few days ago. I loved it.

    At least the version in the OP got the time signature right. Why is 3/4 so hard for these performers? Beyonce sang it in 4/4 at the inaugural; let's see what Alicia Keys will do at the Super Bowl.
