Just a quick one. I just wanted to know if I used a newer graphic catalinbread sft with my stingray, could I reach Tim Commerford tones?

There's quite a range of Timmy C tones... but if you're after mild overdrive with some nice top end bite, then the SFT can deliver, but not sure about the Stingray pairing. I've sold my new version SFT, but still have the original v1, and a SBBM Ray4. From memory I don't think they paired all that well since the SFT gets pretty farty if fed a hot bassy signal, but I'll try the combo out again later on.

got MM Sterling & SFT V1 and with some clean-blending via Xotic X-Blender its possible to get very close to Timmy C´s RATM bass sound ... at least my ears think so.

Yup, Ray4 overloads the hell out of the SFT turning it to mush.

But, the Ray4 is not the Stingray, and is notorious for having an overly hot preamp so you might be alright!

There's one gone up for sale on Basschat today btw...

So for my bass maybe the sft isn't ideal then. As it happens, literally about 10 minutes joined a pop-punk band. Can anybody recommend an od pedal that's right for pop-punk and also sounds good with a stingray?

Do you have an h or hh stingray? Just thinking what position would sound best.

Found out there is actually a darkglass dealer in the UK. Well not far off finishing university, so when I'm done I'm going to take my bass down to there and try out the vmt. In fact, may as well try out everything - b3k, b7k, vmt and vmt deluxe (not feeling the duality).
