    mmmm delicious cake...
November 25, my van was broken into and I had two basses stolen. Unfortunately they were the only two of mine that I did not have the serial numbers. I went around to a bunch of pawn shops in the area passing out fliers with pictures, posted on Facebook and even here. I did not hold out much hope since, like I mentioned, I did not have the serial numbers. Today I decided to go check some other pawn shops in the area looking for a cheap bass for a project. At the second pawn shop I found both my basses! I explained everything to the manager (who was pretty cool about everything) and so I would not have to wait to get my basses back from the police, he offered to sell them back to me for $50 each. So I bought them back! I still have to update the police report and hopefully they will catch the thief. But for right now, I'm happy to have my two basses back.

Awesome. Glad that the basses are back in your hands.

The Fender PJ is nice but that Ibanez would be so much harder to replace.

    Merry Christmas!!

    Congrats on getting them back.
Hopefully you did so on a credit card and dispute the claim.
In Maryland the pawn shop (and our big used instrument shop) is responsible for the first 30 days of the buy if it's stolen. They have to surrender them and the cops don't play around.

The Ibanez is a 1987 RB650 Roadstar II. It was in pretty much mint condition, plays and sounds great and I had been hunting a great deal on an old Roadstar when I found it. It has a few extra scuffs now but still in great shape.

The Fender is a weird weird duck. It is a black label MIM (1994-95) from the short lived "Squire Series" of Mexican Fenders. Where it gets weird is that it is a P/J configuration with a set of active Bartolini's in it. And if I remember correctly the pots are both volume, no tone control. The neck and body are definitely both Fender, but the setup is just weird. plays and sounds good though. And I picked it up much cheaper than the Ibanez.

Tis a Christmas miracle! Congratulations and koodos to the owner who was understanding rather than trying to force the price on you.

Great news. Glad you found your basses. The $100 is a bummer but if that's all it cost to get your own basses back, its obviously much better then never finding them again.

    Congrats!

You should go ahead and contact the police. Let them know you found stolen goods there. It's possible this place is known to thieves as somewhere they can sell stolen merchandise without too many questions.
