Anybody have a good reversible method of installing either Schaller or Dunlop straplocks on older Rics with the big thumbscrew strap pins? Thanks in advance.

New strap buttons that will retrofit older Rickenbacker models and allow you to use Schaller strap locks are available. You simply unscrew the old strap button, then screw in the new one. With the newer strap buttons you can still use a non-sprap lock equipped strap if you like.

You can purchase them direct from Rickenbacker.

I installed straplocks on my 1974 4001 years ago using a 10-24 stainless steel theaded machine screws from my local Ace hardware for less than $1. I had to do a little filing on the head diameter to get it to fit inside the straplock button and make it the same length as the original. (Used a dremil to cut & grind it)

Or you can order these from Pick of the Ricks or even from Rickenbacker itself for $10 + shipping:

Heres a complete setup with the straplocks:
