Played a '63 P at guitard center of all places. It had flats with dark blue silks at the tuners. It had a bridge cover on so I couldn't see the ball end. Just wondering what the strings might have been. Anyone know?

Probably? They were brightish sounding and pretty easy under the fingers.

Could be labellas too. The ball end colors/silks will tell you for sure.

    Chrome or La bella

If you had a picture of the silk wound area I could tell you which they were. And if the windings were very close together with barely any gap they were most likely La bella

If they were a little rougher than flats, they could've been the GHS Brite Flats, which have a dark blue silk as well.

That blue looks a little more vibrant than what was on there. Could have been due to age, but it was more of a dull dark blue. I don't think they were GHS brite flats, they full just like flats. The windings were very close together.

I couldn't believe that this guitar center had a '63, a '64, and a '59 Custom Shop Precision bass. All with bridge and pickup covers. The '63 had one of the nicest setups I've played.

    .
If they're chromes then they'll have different coloured ball ends a well as the blue silk.
You need to get a look under that bridge cover somehow.
