(I apologize in advance if this thread already exists).

I recently got a used Sub bass from eBay & would like to replace the factory strings, which are pretty beat up.

I LOVE the sound & feel of flatwounds, but understand they would be a waste on this bass(?). I would like to venture away from them for this bass.

On other basses, I've tried D'addario nickels (they're ok...)

Tried Ernie Ball Cobalts (too bright- didn't like them)

The steel strings I loved the best were the factory strings from my Ibanez gsr200.

So anyone have any string success stories for this type of bass?
    Thanks.

Pressurewounds are great. I had them on mine and they worked very well. The pickups are hot, and the pressurewounds help tame what would otherwise be super bright and zingy.

Yes, I thought the pickups were hot also. Thanks so much! Sounds like a good answer. :)
