What tricks and tips do TBers have for doing things more effectively? More efficiently? What can you share about your life that could make life easier for other TBers?

    I'll start:

    * When I travel by air, I try to get flights with short layovers to increase mileage, double the amount of legs that I fly in a year, and save the company money.

    * When I travel I use TripIt, a service that allows you to keep all your itineraries in one place, your hotel reservations, flight info, car reservations, meeting notes, and will alert you if anything changes.

I get to ride my bike to work. Saves money, helps my physical and mental health. I get a work out without investing any extra time and get to meet people on my way to work. I know this is not possible for everyone but I love it. BTW I am 61-years-old.

This is why I used "Lifehacks" in quotes... most posted life hacks are ways to reuse stuff around the house, and not actually very helpful.

What sets you apart from those lists?

cook at least 2 days' worth of dinner - saves a ton of time

I really got tired of having my life taken over by plastic bags, so we've started using recyclable bags quite often, trying to get to the level of "consistently"

have a "pur" water filter, also a couple of 5 gallon jugs we can refill with good water for .25/gal

I've got grand plans to bike & bus to work; I'll let you know how that turns out, soon as I fix my flat...

When I traveled for work, I stayed in a different hotel each night to boost points for rewards programs that were based on "stays" and not just nights.

The most important one for me is simply getting/staying in shape. It makes everything else so much better.

Good call, I do this in Hiltons since they go by stays. Marriott just goes by nights.

On that note, I maintain Silver status in Hilton (after only four one night stays) and try to keep my Gold every year at Marriott. Wherever you end up you can almost end up in a city with one of the two biggest chains, where I have status.

Good coffee and a good stereo, both will help you enjoy life more and make everything else a little bit better.

Speaking of good coffee, there is an Emeril's coffee at[DEL] Pic N Save[/DEL] Big Lots that's every bit as good as the grind-at-the-store beans I usually get from sprouts. No lie. Sprouts is usually 8.99/lb, and Emeril's works out to about $6/lb.

Also speaking of Big Lots, they have good toothbrushes for $1

Tired of paying top dollar for expensive laser pointers? Accurately throwing a lit glow stick is cheaper and more satisfying.

Prepaid minutes cards are cheaper than monthly plans if you don't use your phone all that much.

Ditch the coffee and listen to Slayer when you wake up in the morning. It works for me and starts me in a much better mood for the day.
