I have a spare guitar neck kicking around and have decided I want to do something a bit different with it. Here are some mock-ups, let me know which you like best.

Red has the nicest contrast, followed by blue.

Travesty and heresy - I love it!

What about butterscotch blonde with white or tort binding?

I don't think I'll do binding, was going to gently round over the edges, probably a nice forearm contour and belly scoop too. The neck I have is Strat style. I reckon I'll reshape the headstock to complement the upper horn of the body.

Natural and Charcoal neck and neck for the lead, closely followed by Red and Blue bringing up the rear.

I was honestly leaning towards either Natural or Charcoal myself already. What I will probably do, when I have the blank, is to cut out the rough shape and use the scraps to test finishes and see what I like best then...

I already voted for charcoal, but just felt like saying I think it's a good option because it'd be different than the majority of guitars/basses out there. How often do you see a charcoal finish? But when you do, it's usually awesome.

I personally dig the blue. But that is why they make basses in more colors than a Model T.

If it were me, i'd build the red one, but use a single coil for the neck pickup. To me the humbucker seems to be out of place. but that's my two cents. Best of luck, and can't wait to see how it turns out

I am not much of a fan of the tele bridge humbucker combo , I would do dual humbuckers but with a regular hardtail fender type bridge or a les paul stop tail.

Nah. I'd use Biltoft CC-Riders and a Bigsby. :bag:

    Seriously.

Hardware has been delivered (bridge, string-through ferrules, control plate). Waiting on the Ash and trying to decide on pickups. I'm not going to blow a whole lot on the pups as I'm no guitar player, but want something half decent. Maybe a pair of Wilkinsons...

Cool concept, but the humbucker within the tele bridge seems weird for this guitar. Also, i'd probably do a more square-ish body rather than round just because of the control plate. And again, use a single coil pickup for the neck and slanted humbucker for the bridge. That would be cool. But that's my thought on what i would do. I'm sure it'll look much better when it's actually built.

I'm really keen on the HB within the bridge plate, but may go for a chrome covered pup as opposed to the exposed type. I like my guitars to have twin humbuckers (my other is an Epi Dot).
As far as the shape goes, I reckon I'll restyle the bottom portion to a more Tele-esque shape, with the Rick influence coming in for the upper horn, which I'll also try to echo in the headstock shape.

I guess there is also a slight possibility of me changing my mind wildly and going for a Telemaster shape!
