    Recap on the story,

So I went out to dinner with my girlfriend last night and she lays this story on me.

“My dad is opening up a business in Colorado where he goes into delinquent storage sheds and buys the stuff in them to resell. So the other day he was looking through one of those sheds to find a bass all painted up weird and offers the guys fifty bucks for it.”

He goes on to tell my girlfriend.

“It looks like some dude got high and just painted all over it. There are vines painted on the neck and weird stuff. I thought it was funny looking so I bought it and I’m going to send it to Shannon (That’s me) as a joke just cause it loooks weird. It looks like it could be a FENDER bass but i'm not sure.”

Now her dad used to play music back in the day but doesn’t know his stuff to well. So on its way as I type, is this strange bass that could be an old fender. It should be here buy tomorrow or Saturday so ill get pics up as soon as it gets here. Could be cool, could be worth money, or just a good laugh had by all on here

    And then the bass came!

So did you try it out with some new strings and a good setup yet?

    What does it sound like?

I used to have an "Electric" vintage bass with the pickup on/off switches, but the pickups were dying on me.

A Tele headstock, somewhat. Be interesting to see what is in the neck pocket and under the pick guard.

Is that a Univox bass amp?
Sure looks like the one I used to have, circa 1976 or so...

No idea what the bass itself is.

a file and a small piece of wood will keep you covered until you can get something more permanent. Take the wood, file it to size, file in grooves and you're golden.

90% sure it is not a Fender.

Rectangular-back sealed tuners make me think of a Teisco or Univox or one of those old 60s Japanese clones. Pickups have metal covers. I don't think Fender ever did that.

    How does it sound?

Are those white plastic 'on/off' switches? Love that!

It looks like it weighs 24 pounds.

The pickguard is a bit different. The Silvertone pickguard is a clone of a Burns, but otherwise they look the same. Cool bass, I hope it works!
