At band practice the other night, I tried out what I like to call the 'Jimmy Rig', after our friend Jimmy Miller. SVT-CL on the floor with 2 2x10 AVs stacked vertically on top. The bass was my 6-string Spector. I can positively say this is NOT the best setup for Metal.

But its pretty fantastic if you have realistic expectations of those 210av cabs, right?

Wow, way to sell Ampegs, Hodgy ;)

Yeah, I'd be the first to agree that it's not the best rig for metal, but since I'm not playing metal when I use it or using a 5 or 6, it's fine for me. Have to admit the tone is pretty sweet, though, right?

Let me see if I understand your lexicon correctly Hodgy :p

    jimmyrig |ˈjimērig|(Brit. jemmyrig |ˈjemērig|)
    verb ( jimmyrigs, jimmyrigging , jimmyrigged ) [ with obj. ]
To use something in a way that it wasn't intended to be used.
    • set up (equipment or a device or structure), typically in makeshift
fashion: he had jimmyrigged his amp for metal | the crew began
to jimmyrig the equipment on a platform | he jimmyrigged the bass
line in the song and it turned out fantastic.

I hope that royalties aren't paid like on iTunes, in micro-cents per purchase.

Jimmy will get royalties only when someone purchases the set and a $999.99 power cable.

Oh, you mean that cable that totally makes the Micro VR perform identically to a vintage SVT?

LMAO :D best thread I've read in a while. And I agree that adding that super-duper power chord to the system would indeed make it the ultimate jimmyrig.

Yes. The SVT head is heavier than both of the cabs put together, and will result in an awkward T-formation otherwise.

    How about 8 210av's instead?

    :D

But seriously, it would be cool if Ampeg put out a heavier duty version of the 210av that could get metal if you had two of them. Then again, the 210av's are enough for me, and though weight isn't my prime concern, sometimes it is.
