Ben Chafin and Mick Donner are local to me and have resurrected a much beloved brand - Electra Guitars.

They kicked off the line with a reissue of the original Electra LP copy, the Omega.

I've just noticed they're introducing a bass model at NAMM...the Phoenix.

To be honest, I was a little miffed because I planned to call my 'Bird inspired model Phoenix, too...

    :p

Be that as it may, Ben and Mick have quite the industry pedigree, and they are having their instruments made at one of the best Korean factories.

That means a great instrument...at a fantastic price.

I'm looking forward to seeing what else they come up with, and I wish them the best of luck.

Played this at NAMM. One of the best sounding basses at the show. Can't wait till they come out. My next five string.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Outlaw ftw!

I don't even care about the modules.

The old Electra MPC Outlaw bass? Really?

I remember when those came out, we were astounded by what looked like a collection of leftover, unwanted parts... Rick-o bridge, mudbucker pickup, and a body that was part flying V, part explorer.

I guess if T40's can become objects of desire decades later, so can that mutt of a bass.

I had an Electra Phoenix X140S guitar years ago. And yes, they had several Phoenix basses, some even had active EQ.

I still have an Electra guitar, an X155 (with a butchered headstock :( )

They were quite good guitars for the money.
