I am just really curious about how we as a TB community break down according to the genre(s) of music we play. I'm guessing that Rock genres are going to take the cake, but who knows...maybe there will be a genre that is more heavily represented here amongst us that is unexpected!

I am also interested in WHY we play what we play...Did we grow up with it...did a working band situation shift your musical trajectory....etc...etc?

I was limited to 20 options for the Poll.

If thou play RnB, Motown, Soul....select funk.

For post punk, New Wave, etc...I would select punk or Indie Rock

That is MOSTLY what i play to FYI.

Old-school pop (60's/70's soul, R&B, disco), "modern" R&B, some classic rock. The more groove, the better.

You left my current genre out. Rap and rap-rock. And thus we must "Rage Against the Machine" :bassist:

"Rock" and most of it's sub categories / genres.

"Blues" I guess this is where Rock came from, right?

It only have me 20 options...if I hear more from Rap Rock Players I'll see if I can shift things around a little and add that as an option.

At some time or another, I've played all but a couple of those genres. These days it's mostly jazz or classical, but I will probably always consider myself first and foremost a country musician.

I selected funk, blues, jazz, gospel, classic rock and top 40. Unfortunately Motown, and R&B were not on the list, especially since I play those more than anything else on my list except classic rock / top 40. And that's only because of my current gig. If I were starting my own band it would be Motown / R&B.
