Scottsman. Born in the 20's. Emigrated to Canada in 1959, where he and my mom had a baby girl. Came across the border to Minnesota in 1963, and that's where I come into the picture.

He's got maybe days left to live. He's 85, and has lung cancer. I am driving to Indianapolis tomorrow, where I will catch a plane, and go spend some time with him at his home in Florida.

I'm going to do a nice thing online, showing you more about this amazing man.

That's him on the right. In the middle of the photo are the King and Queen of England. It's around 1944 or 1945.

My dad has always been proud to be working class, but not in some way that he dislikes people for wanting more. He taught me that education is important, and that you can always aspire to be whatever it is you want to be.

I'm really messed up and sad today. For the next few days, I won't have access to this, or any other forum. A lot of you would be surprised to know how much you do to make me feel good sometimes, and I will miss the support a little.

I'm going to go say goodbye to my dad, a man who has always been there for me, and never let me down.

I'll say more about this later; that's all for now.

Sorry to hear that his time is short. Treasure those memories!

My dad died suddenly of a heart attack when I was 15 (almost 39 years ago). I sure wish I had more memories of him.

Damn, dude. Certain aspects of adulthood suck severely, eh? Not being flippant- I'm also a *63*, and my father is 91, in iffy health. I don't *know your pain* or have any words of wisdom for you, but do appreciate your presence here and ... aw, eff it. I drink to you and your father, that's all I got

    absolutely....good wishes

all you can do at this time is remember the good times...and be sure and tell your kids how great your old man was

dying is something that will happen to us all, and i'm sure he was very proud of you and happy with how you turned out.....rejoice that he had the good life he did, and be happy you had him as long as you did.....

not that this advice will make you feel better right now....only time will do that,my friend
