I'm looking for the transcription of Tommy Cogbill's great bass work on Dusty Springfield's ‘Son Of A Preacher Man’.

I think Bassplayer mag puslished this in their Feb '06 issue.

If anyone could scan and email or photocopy and send via snail mail or sell me a copy of this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

    TIA :bassist:

Nope, sorry - but you should check out Aretha's version. Way cooler!

Bass Player magazine had a full transciption about a year ago. If you search their website, you can find out which month, but you'll have to purchase the back issue. But it is a complete tab & notation, so probably worth the money.

Thanks everyone. I was able to track down the BassPlayer article with the Tommy Cogbill's bass line with the help from a TBer.

    This place is great :bassist:

Tommy's bassline is great, studying it is like taking a master class. I'll check out the Aretha version as well.

    Thanks again :hyper:

I need to bump this old thread because of the link 2 posts above. It is a freekin gold mine of Tommy Cogbill and Jerry Jemmott transcriptions.

Thank you to the gods of Talkbass for this.

The basslines in this song are amazing! I am also looking for the bass tabs. You found 'em, Oldrocker? I might have to check out eBay or BP.com for this back issue.

I think I have a PDF of the BP article with transcription for this. PM me your email and I'll find it and send it along.
