I would say this is a hard one for me considering most of the bass players I am influenced by are very underrated and not well known among many but I guess I can give the 5 who have influenced me the most:

    1) James Jamerson
    2) Bernard Edwards
    3) Victor Wooten
    4) Tracy Wormworth
    5) Mark Bedford

Plus a little bonus one: Wayman Tisdale
I don't care if anyone says that he's not a real bassist, take that crap some where else...

Hmm..im not sure what you mean here. You just mean our favorites regardless of technical skill or influence on bass in general?

Cause my favorites, and greatest influences, are Simon Gallup, Andy Rourke, Paul Simonon, John Taylor and Leigh Gorman. None of which are recognized for their technical skills, in fact Simonon and Gallup are downright very ordinary technique wise. I think in general though i tend to be influenced by basslines more than bassists, if you know what i mean. There's bassists i only really like for a handful of songs but i learned those basslines and they likely had an influence on me. In the end i suppose i'm more a songwriter than a bassist. Even if bass is my favorite, and first, instrument

    James Jamerson
    John Entwistle
    Jack Bruce
    Geddy Lee

Have to agree with all previous posts with special affinity for Milks "fav/best" players.

Sorry I should've elaborated more but either or is fine! Plus I agree with you, Simonon is a great underrated bassist, people think just because he was with the clash, a punk band, that he isn't as skillful as any other bassists out there which he really was.

Top 5 who influenced me the most? This is certainly easy to answer but some of these players would probably not make the lists of anyone else:

    In no particular order:

    Robert DeLeo
    Duff Mckagan
    John Taylor
    John McVie
    Will Lee
