Saw a bass at a local shop. Tag on it said "carl" 5 string bass.

It looked similar to an MTD-534 in styling. ON the headstock it had an ivory in lay clef note logo.

Didn't get it down and check anything else, but wondering what brand this is to research it more before going back.

Anyone have any ideas based of this little bit of info?

    Photos would help.

Could be a custom made bass. I'm not familiar with a brand called Carl. I know Carlo Robelli and Carl Thompson, but not just Carl.

Dont have photos, would have to go back to the store, and at that point would just ask the guy there(didn't get a chance to yesterday).

Tag said "carl s" I believe.

There's a builder named Carl Smith, trading as Carl S Basses. Not much info on the web, though.

ED: Best Bass Gear lists one Carl Smith as "bass technician" at a place called Bottom End Tech in Harvey, Louisiana. Might be him, but the list looks old.

    That has to be it.

    Looks similar styling.

Wonder why there is such limited info on this guy.
