Upgrades for Cort GB95 / GB5 bass

    Any recommended upgrades for this bass?

    What hardware would be a step up from this standard equipment?

    I just bought one used, and was considering pumping up the electronics. Prefer something with a punchy, modern tone.

    just upgrades your bass the electronics with preamp Aguilar OBP-3SK.

    The OBP-3 is Aguilar's most flexible onboard preamp design, providing +/-18dB of cut and boost at 40Hz, +/- 16dB of cut and boost at either 400Hz or 800Hz and +/- 16dB of treble cut and boost at 6.5 kHz. The OBP-3 has multiple wiring options, and can be wired with either a push/pull pot, mini-toggle or internal dip-switch for midrange frequency selection.

    I've had that bass (4 string version) for a couple of years and the stock preamp is good quality, pretty similar to the OBP-3 too. You might consider adding an active/passive switch and/or a serial/parallel/single one for the humbucker. Multiplies tonal options more than eq. I also swapped the humbucker to the alnico version ( SD as well) which was a better match for the neck pickup, both in sound and in output levels.
