Nice basses! The necks are unlikely to be made out of mahogany. Maple is much more likely. The bodies are mahogany, however.

Thanks for the 8...it's a GREAT one. I've owned several and this one is a keeper. Was set up just how I set mine too with super low action.

Smooth deal! Not a mark on the 8 either. Real nice for a 20-year-old bass.

And yes, mahogany body with 3-piece maple neck on it.

The trans cherry Chap 6 & 12vers are a lot harder to find. Most were black. So it might be awhile before anyone sees another nice trans cherry 12-string Chaparral for sale again...and since Hamer just closed shop, you can no longer order a new one.

Hamer really does make the best quality U.S. 8- and 12vers with those dual-truss necks.

Yep... my Chaparral B12L is black.... boring, standard, black. I would much prefer the translucent red... but can't justify buying another B12L at this point. Mine plays nicely though.

Oh how I wish this was a B12A or S. I've owned a few Chaparrals in the past and I loved them. GLWS!
