WANTED: Someone to build my Dream Bass

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Gbass75, Feb 22, 2014.

  1. Truth be told; I'm not in any position to make this a reality, at the moment... in fact, I'm needing to sell a bass or two; due to the recent death of my father-in-law, and my family's need for funds.

That said, I'm wondering if there's someone from within our TB community who is recommended as "THE GO-TO GUY" for putting together your custom bass (in my case, the P-Bass I've always wanted; that doesn't exist).

Should I be asking this in the "Luthier's Corner?"

Fellow TBer Johnk_10 builds some of the nicest looking Fender style basses I've seen. I hear he's great to work with and his pricing is very fair. Check him out.

If you want a "Fender style" bass the list of luthiers is endless who will put together a nice parts bass. But if you want something that is closer to a real P Bass I know a guy in Eastern Europe that has dissected preCBS guitars and basses and builds them to exact specs. Keller Custom Handmade Guitars. I've had some of his work in the past and he's building a couple of Jazz basses for me now. His prices are very reasonable.

Valenti if you don't mind spending a few extra bucks and getting exactly everthing you want down to the last screw.

Gamma if you want a great bass for under $1000.

  17. I know... I just don't trust myself to do a good enough job. I'm a pretty good player, but I'm no craftsman!!!

I've heard good things about Gamma... I'll check out the others, too!!!

    Thanks y'all!!! Keep 'em coming!
