in may the cover band I play in is going to do a "bike night" at a local bar on a tuesday night 6-9. If we do well (and we will:smug:) they'll have us back as their regular bike night band.
We've never played weeknight gigs before (friday doesn't count) and I'm curious if there's anything different or special that gig veterans have noticed about it vs. weekends.

Usually less of a crowd on week nights, with a different mentality...more of a low key kinda vibe. BUT, at an event such as "Bike Night", it may be completely different. Im assuming you're talking about Motorcycle "Bike Night" yes? Anything can happen lol. Good luck, let us know.

The next day at work usually sucks but 6-9 pm isn't bad at all.

    Hi,

Weekend crowds are generally bigger and livelier but it depends on the venue and occasion.

I played a Tuesday night casino gig for a year and a half in the Palm Springs area (over an hour drive), 8pm to midnight. It was a great crowd and the pay was worth it so that I didn't mind having to drag my butt into work the next morning.

    Break a leg!

    Thank you for your indulgence,

Some bike nights are very well attended, regardless of what week day they occur. Just give 'em what they want, and have fun.

With a regular day job(instrumentation at a petrochem facility), I actually enjoy having our "normal" gig on a Tuesday night even though I get shorted on sleep(live 100 miles from Houston where the 7~11 gig is). This leaves my weekends OPEN for wifey & me. If we have a weekend gig, the gig day is gone and the next day may be rough depending on the gig hours. BTW, I'm 58 so doing things like 10 hours of sleep on Sunday and Monday nights helps....

Have fun & enjoy the early hours(6~9).

20 years ago I could do weeknights 9-1am, pack up get home by 2:30, get about 4 hours sleep if I was lucky and go to work and then do it again the next night. Im pretty sure that would kill me now if I attempted that.

    Hi,

Yep, that was me back in the 90s. I was working 5 or 6 nights a week while working my regular 40 hour/week day job. I got called on the carpet just a couple of times for coming in late.

That extra $400-$500 a week sure came in handy. I spent most of it on booze and women. The rest I just wasted. :p

I could keep that pace in my 30s. Not so much in my 50s. ;)

    Thank you for your indulgence,

I was saving to put a healthy down payment on a home, I actually had a fulltime job, a part time job and a band that played 3 nights a week, sometimes 4 or 5. I slept most of sundays.
