Like the fretless Jaco plays here:

I've seen old Univox basses like this. What other basses have headstocks like that?

Ampeg scroll basses, numerous violin basses have that headstock configuration as well.

Aria (and Univox) basses from 1970-1974 have that head stock.

    Here's a pic of my 1970-ish Aria:

Actually, it was Jerry Jemmott holding that bass with the cool headstock. What kind of bass is/was that?

Along the same lines, I remember a Samick bass in the early 2000s with an open headstock like that. Any ideas?

Almost a year later and I forgot I wanted one of these. The gas has faded.

I've had that video since it was release way back in the VHS days. It's always so sad to hear that long glowing intro from Jemmott about Jaco's playing and then tag it with "So what do you think?" (about all the accolades) and Jaco's response... "Give me a gig man!"

I wonder what music Jaco would be making if he were still alive. His writing was really a needed breath of creativity in the jazz world, over and above his monstrous playing. Take care of your mental health folks.
