What has a neck like an early G&L L-2000E??

About four years ago, I (stupidly) sold my heavily modified G&L L-2000E.

It was in poor shape when I got it in a trade deal--bad enough that I almost sent it back.
But I kept it (and did a lot of work to restore it to great playing condition) because it was the best neck I'd ever played on.

It was roughly P-bass width, but very shallow back to front.

My question is; do any of the current G&L's have that wide-thin neck profile?

If not, what other basses have a neck profile like that?

    Thanks!
    John

No G&L's do. I played a Fender Precision from the early 80's...the one with two P pickups? It had a pretty similar profile: Kind of wide, flatter, and shallow. Very comfortable.

I think that's the Elite Precision (or Precision Elite?)

I had to CREATE a neck profile like that on one of my basses; despite a totally loose truss rod, it had negative amounts of relief, so I busted out the belt-sander and thinned the neck down until the strings could influence it again.

I'd be afraid to do that on a lesser neck; that one was quartersawn Eastern rock maple with a Macassar ebony fretboard.

My '80 L1K and my '87 SB1 both measure 1 11/16" wide, with a 0.79" thickness at the first fret (both with 7.25" radius). Greatest necks ever! IMO, G&L is making a huge mistake not offering a neck like that.

    Agreed!

But are any OTHER brands making a neck like that?

Seems like the Jazz bass has exerted a lot of influence with all it's skinny/narrow necked knockoffs...

My Status Energy has a neck about the width of my P, but lots flatter. Plus, being graphite it's straight and true.

Maybe that doesn't help, but you did ask.
