Hi fellows! Can you suggest where to get a 54 P style body for the square heel MIJ T-bass neck? Warmoth has a rounded neck pocket, Allparts body doesn't have the forearm contour. USACG body has a slightly different shape.
I would love to have a light resonant Alder body finished in Silver Flake to use with a single P/MM pickup configuration.
    So any suggestions?
    Thanks!

For my 1954 P Bass, which is still in the works, I discovered that the best way to go was to order the 1954 body from Warmoth with NO neck pocket and have your favorite local luthier cut the pocket for you. That is what I did with major success.

Of course, if you are a perfectionist and quite handy, with access to a good router you could possibly do it yourself.

I had my local luthier Patrick Cummings of Brian Moore and iguitar fame cut mine.

Details of my build are here if you are interested:

    Best of luck with it,

Thanks a lot BassHappy! That's a great idea! :) The only question - can I get a decent job when carving out the neck pocket of a finished body? Especially if it's Silver Flake finish. Unfortunately they don't do that finish nearby.

No. You'll want the pocket done before painting.

You might get lucky and not chip or mar the finish, but I would definitely not risk it.

If you are doing a single color in paint, you should be able to get a local custom car shop to spray it for you at a very reasonable price. My hot rod restorer painted this one for me hot rod flatz black for $50 bucks and did a very nice job.

    Good luck with it!

Oh, I just got a reply from Cary (Warmoth). They do not offer squared neck pockets. :(
